Dr. David Hamming, son of Dr. Edward G. Hamming, grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois and attended Lake Forest High School. He attained his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at Princeton University. While at Princeton, he competed for the varsity swim team. Dr. Hamming went on to Vanderbilt, where he obtained his medical degree and met his wife Katherine. After four years in Nashville, he moved to Minneapolis for his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. During his residency, he pursued many interests including shoulder biomechanics, developing an arthroscopic curriculum for junior residents, as well as being the team physician for a local high school football team. Dr. Hamming completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver. He worked extensively with both the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies as a team physician. Additionally, he took care of the two-time defending high school state football champions, the Mullen Mustangs, on their way to a third consecutive title.
Dr. Hamming began employment at IBJI – Lake Shore Orthopaedics in August 2011. He is married and has one son. He enjoys many activities including water polo, golf, swimming, and hiking.
