Community Events & Activities
The Illinois Bone and Joint Institute – Lake Shore Orthopaedics team cares about our community. Many of our physicians volunteer their time and resources to community organizations.
At our last Lake County Children's Orthopaedic Clinic on October 20th, we brought along "Tank" Dr. Dugan's certified Therapy dog to visit the kids. He was an absolute hit! The kids just adored him and most of all he brightened their day.
Joint Replacement Seminar – Coming Soon.
Medical Outreach:
• Lake County Children’s Orthopaedic Clinic
The Lake County Children’s Orthopedic Clinic, Inc. began as the Crippled Children’s Clinic in 1918. It was founded by a small group of Lake County residents in order to help children suffering from polio. Over the years we’ve evolved into the Lake County Children’s Orthopedic Clinic, and help meet the orthopedic needs of children from birth to age 16 suffering from problems of muscles, bones, and joints.
The Lake County Children’s Orthopedic Clinic is scheduled once per quarter, and accepts patients regardless of economic status. Insurance is not a prerequisite for treatment. We will see any child for any orthopedic issue. If health insurance or Medicaid covers the family, however, we do ask that you provide appropriate coverage information.
• Everest College Externship Program
This program gives students in the Medical Assistant program the opportunity to continue and grow their education with hands-on clinical training at our Gurnee facility under our team’s close supervision.
Community Outreach:
• Boys & Girls Club of Lake County
Our team is active in the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County, organizing, participating and contributing in various fundraising events annually to support and sustain this worthy program for children.
• Lake Forest High School “Open Doors” Career Mentoring Program
This program helps the young people in our community learn more about careers in health care. The physicians participate in this program annually by volunteering to have 1-2 students shadow them in clinic for a day, providing the opportunity to observe various forms of medical care being provided to patients.
• Haitian Relief Shoe Drive
In conjunction with IBJI Rehab and Share Your Soles, Inc., a Chicago-based non-profit organization that donates shoes to the needy, our practice supported this initiative by donating new and gently used shoes to hundreds of people devastated by the earthquake in Haiti.
• Global Brigades
In conjunction with IBJI Rehab and Athletico, we are proud to support Global Brigades, an organization dedicated to providing services and resources to those in need around the world. Several IBJI and Athletico therapists participated in a trip to Honduras on April 11, 2010. The IBJI-LSO physicians sponsored one of our division’s physical therapists, Stacy Mustari, to travel with Global Brigades where she was able to provide necessary medical care and supplies to over 1,500 children and adults.
Professional Sports:
• Chicago Wolves Hockey Team
We love Wolves Hockey and our medical team is proud to help keep their players healthy and on the ice! Drs. Logue and Dugan serve as Team Physicians for the Wolves.
High School Sports:
Many of our physicians work with our local high school sports teams by providing coverage of football games and providing medical care to any injured athlete.
