Physical therapy and rehabilitation may be part of a conservative, nonsurgical treatment plan for many orthopaedic conditions. Physical therapy is also important for recovering after orthopaedic surgery.

At IBJI - Lake Shore Orthopaedics, our physical therapy team works closely with our physicians to deliver the safest, most effective physical therapy and rehabilitation. Because our rehab department is in the same facility as our office, it’s easy for your referring physician to check in on you throughout rehabilitation and to consult with your physical therapist as often as needed.

All physical therapy and rehab services are delivered with the compassion and personal attention our practice is known for. We will always take the time to answer all your questions and do all we can to ensure your comfort during your rehabilitation. Physical therapy and rehab services at IBJI - Lake Shore Orthopaedics include:

• Physical therapy. Our physical therapy team is highly qualified and experienced in treating people of all ages, with all types of orthopaedic health concerns. From easing the pain of arthritis to helping you get back to your routine after knee surgery or a work injury, our team is here for you. Our physical therapists use proven, hands-on therapy techniques along with the latest physical therapy treatment options to get you back where you need to be.

• Occupational therapy. When an injury, illness or other health problem affects your ability to function in your day to day activities, occupational therapy can help. Our occupational therapy services include physical rehabilitation, purposeful activities and adaptation of your specific activities and/or environment. Our occupational therapists specialize in treating clients with injuries and dysfunction of the hand, wrist and elbow and also offer custom upper extremity orthotics and ergonomic evaluations.

• Certified hand therapy. Our certified hand therapists work with patients who have pain in the hand, wrist or elbow or who are recovering after injury or surgery. Gentle, hands-on therapy, prescribed exercises, custom splints and wound care are all available. Our hand therapists also work in close collaboration with our occupational therapy team to help patients achieve optimal function after a work or sports injury or any type of injury to the hand.

• Care for work injuries. Physical therapy, industrial rehabilitation and work conditioning are all important to our comprehensive work injury program. Our therapists’ close interaction with physicians on a daily basis gives us a unique advantage that is critical in Workers’ Compensation case management, to help decrease the length of time a patient is away from work.

We also offer Functional Capacity Evaluations for patients with Workers’ Compensation cases. This evaluation uses sophisticated and proven testing and is used to create a comprehensive and succinct summary along with a detail extended report that is guaranteed within 24-hours.
